How to integrate Google Voice with an NSER.AI phone number

NOTE:

Google Voice is highly restrictive with forwarding calls to any automated system. Google only allows you to forward to another cell phone. We have outlined several options below as a work around to Google's restrictions. Select the option that works best for you.

Port your Google Voice number to a less restrictive phone service:

  1. Sign up for a 3rd party service:
    Line2: $9/mo https://www.line2.com/pricing/
    Grasshopper: $14/mo https://signup.grasshopper.com/plans

  2. Port your Google Voice number to your new provider: Follow the instructions below

How to port your number away from Google Voice with ZERO downtime:

  1. Unlock Google Voice Number: On your computer (do not try from your phone) Open Google Voice. At the top right, click Settings. Go to the “Account” section. Under the Google Voice number you wish to port out, click Unlock. Google will charge you $3 for this.

  2. Setup Call Forwarding on Your New Provider: Setup how you want calls to be handled on the account screen of your new provider.

  3. Port to New Provider: Follow the instructions on the website of the new phone provider you signed up with.
If they ask for your account number, it is your 10 digit Google Voice Number ex: 9495551212; The transfer or port PIN is your Google Voice voicemail PIN.

  4. Wait: It typically takes less than 24 hours to port your number and it should be a seamless process without any downtime.

  5. Verify: You will receive a notification from your new provider that your number port was completed. You should check from another phone to ensure the port and call forwarding is working correctly.
